Dear Supporters of Renown and Talking Pictures TV,

It’s now been officially announced that Talking Pictures TV are the largest independent channel in the whole of the UK. Quite an achievement in just over 3 years of broadcasting. We can’t quite believe it but thank you to all of you for spreading the word and lobbying your magazines and newspapers to print our listings. If we still aren’t in a magazine of your choice, then please do keep writing to them.

We are delighted to announce some of the first Star Guests for our Talking Pictures TV and Renown Pictures Festival of Film on Sunday 24th March 2019. We are delighted to announce that Bernard Cribbins OBE will be joining us on stage and will be interviewed by Jenny Hanley. Marty Wilde MBE (What a Crazy World, Jet Storm, The Hellions) , Anne Aubrey (Idol On Parade, Jazz Boat, The Hellions) and Craig Douglas (It’s Trad Dad! Climb Up the Wall and of course the hit records, Only Sixteen and Teenager in Love) will also be joining us on stage with their tales and memories. More details on page 13. As with all guest stars these appearances will be subject to their health and any personal commitments on the day. We are also working on another ‘Behind the Scenes’ panel and two more star guests which we can’t announce just yet. Noel is busy looking for ‘lost’ films and shorts and we have two in restoration for the event. To avoid disappointment please do get your tickets ordered a.s.a.p.! We have only one third left.

We still plan on hosting an event in Stockport later next year, along with a special ‘A Family At War’ Reunion – details coming soon.

We are over the moon with this year’s calendar- we’ve spent many months researching important dates in TV & Film History which are all marked on the calendar with birthdays of just some of the stars we know and love- it’s a bargain at £10 and comes presented on beautiful silky card. We hope you enjoy these as much as we have creating it for you all. More details on page 6. It’s your last chance to get our limited edition Advent Calendars – just £6 covered with glitter and one of the stars from the eras we all know and love behind each door.

We also have a super range of Christmas gifts including our new Terry-Thomas ‘You Absolute Shower!’ cagoule and umbrella!

Some DVD specials on Cohen titles for you this month and Scrooge of course (Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas with our Alastair Sim!) and our Christmas Collection, the perfect gift for the Vintage film lover. A new Children’s Film Foundation box set from the BFI and a sale on some of our books – perfect Christmas gifts all round!

Some amazing premieres for you this month and just wait till you see our Christmas line up on the channel this year, there really is something for everyone – unless you want celebrity cooking shows, strange people in a jungle or very bad singing or sport – then we aren’t the channel for you! (Although some of the singing in some of our films is a little questionable)… talking of films on the channel I hope some of you saw the wonderful article in the Guardian and The Observer this month? A lot of new ‘viewers’ found us because of it and the response has been a welcome boost to us three.

This will be our last newsletter for this year, we will be spending the next few months busy in the restoration booth preparing some films for DVD release next year. So as early as it seems, can we wish you all a very, Merry Christmas and peace, health and happiness for 2019. Thank you for all your support this year, we honestly couldn’t do it without you.

Very Best Wishes,

Noel, Sarah and Neill
