CELEBRATING 90 YEARS OF THE REGENT AND CINEMA &  TV HISTORY

Saturday July 16th 10.30am – 7pm
and Sunday July 17th 10.30am – 7pm 2022

Hosted by Caroline Munro, with celebrity guests including Melvyn Hayes, Derren Nesbitt and Martin Clunes OBE, who celebrates the life and career of his father, Alec Clunes; plus quizzes, a variety of stalls and merchandise with show exclusives. Each day’s entertainment is a celebration of film and TV history, with lots of short films, newsreels, lost TV episodes, Saturday Morning Pictures and films on the big screen (some projected live from 35mm!)
The Regent Cinema is the home of entertainment for Christchurch, East Dorset and the New Forest. It opened on Boxing Day 1931 as the town cinema, showing The Taming of the Shrew with Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. After 40 years it became a Bingo club for a decade before closure, but in 1982 Christchurch Borough Council purchased the building, and, with the help of volunteers, it was lovingly restored to its early Art Deco glory. One of the finest examples of an early 1930s cinema in Britain, it was re-opened on June 11th 1983 by Dora Bryan OBE.

Please bring your ticket to gain entry – no tickets will be available on the day. Doors open 10.30am.

For additional information regarding directions etc, please call the The Regent Box Office: 01202 499199.

NB: The Circle has two flights of stairs and no lift.
