This charming British farce stars Dirk Bogarde in an early comedy role. Lampidorra, a small European country had a thriving economy based on smuggling. The country is near bankruptcy when a wealthy American offers to buy it, but dies before stumping up the cash. The lucky Lampidorrans find that his heir is a New York shop assistant, played by Yolande Donlan. She flies to rescue her people in their hour of need, ends the smuggling business and enlists the help of a London cheese salesman to help her raise money. They discover an old Lampidorran recipe for “Schneese” – a cross between Schnapps and cheese. Will Lampidorra be saved or will the residents be forced to return to their old smuggling ways?
